RecruitBomb Camp Series 2016
Polk County | Tenoroc High School | March 12
LAKELAND, FL – Victory Christian athlete Semaj James ran a 4.6 flat in the 40-yard dash and dominated the competitive skills drills to take home the Catch & Cover award at the Recruitbomb.com/FNF Magazine Polk County Training Camp at Tenoroc High School on Saturday.
James, a rising junior, was consistent in the testing portion of the camp, running a 4.28 in the short shuttle and a 7.0 flat in the three-cone drill as well.
For his efforts, James won an award plaque and a training mask from trainingmask.com.
Dixie County athlete Jamal Chapman already won the Catch & Cover plaque from the Creekside combine but the rising senior came back for more in Polk County. Chapman didn’t pass James for the award but was given an honorable mention prize.
Springstead high school quarterback Jordan Wright was teased for looking a little like Tom Brady but much like the four-time Super Bowl champion, Wright made believers out of everyone on the field.
Wright won the Golden Arm plaque as the top quarterback at the event and showed some serious athleticism in the testing portion, running the fastest three-cone drill of the event (6.78) and hitting 10 feet in the broad jump.
Lake Wales athlete Tommy Ashwood was consistent with his testing all day, running a 4.69 in the 40 and a 4.54 on the short shuttle. He took home the “Fastest” plaque.
As for the big guys there was a strong turnout of linemen and the competition was tough and rugged thoroughout. The end battles came down to Winter Haven 2018 defensive lineman Willie Lane, Kathleen 2019
defensive lineman Jaaron Jackson, Lake Gibson rising senior Chandler Pearce and Fort Lauderdale rising senior Torri Young.
After several battles and a long discussion between coaches Ricky Barnum and Chris Campbell, Lane was awarded the Top Trenchman for his efforts. Lane is an exciting prospect at 6-1, 229. He tested above average in all areas and should gain a lot of traction this season as a prospect.
Young, who came with a group of six from Fort Lauderdale, won an honorable mention prize as his head coach Richard Dunbar looked on and gave his approval.
Pearce did not leave the camp empty handed. The two-time Recruitbomb Camp attendee hit 24 reps on the 185-lb bench and took the award plaque for “Strongest”.
And one final shout out to 12-year-old Jacoby Lane, who wanted to test like his big brothers and showed the competitive spirit that earned the “Bright Light” award.
